Guide for Authors

The Journal of Cost Management (J. Cost Manag.) welcomes original, high-quality scholarly manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of knowledge in cost management, management accounting, financial management, strategic cost analysis, organizational performance, and related disciplines. Authors are encouraged to carefully follow the guidelines below to ensure that submissions can be processed efficiently and evaluated fairly.

1. Originality and Scope

Manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original and should make a meaningful contribution to the relevant academic literature. The manuscript must fall within the scope of the journal and should not have been published previously or be under consideration by another journal.

2. Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts should be prepared in a clear and professional academic style and submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format. The manuscript should be logically organized and should include all essential sections appropriate to the type of research being submitted.

Authors should ensure that the manuscript is free from unnecessary formatting, typographical errors, and inconsistencies before submission.

3. Title Page and Author Information

The submission should provide complete information for all authors, including:

  • Full name
  • Academic qualification
  • Designation
  • Institutional affiliation
  • Institutional email address
  • Country
  • ORCID iD, where available

The corresponding author should be clearly identified and should provide accurate contact information for editorial correspondence.

4. Abstract and Keywords

Each research article should include a concise and informative abstract summarizing the purpose, methodology, major findings, and principal conclusions of the study.

Authors should also provide appropriate keywords that accurately represent the main concepts and subject areas of the manuscript.

5. Structure of the Manuscript

Depending on the nature of the submission, research articles should generally include appropriate sections such as:

  • Introduction
  • Literature Review
  • Methodology
  • Results or Findings
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Recommendations, where applicable
  • References

Authors may adapt the structure where the research design or article type requires a different organization.

6. Tables and Figures

Tables, figures, charts, and other visual materials should be clearly numbered and appropriately titled. They should be referred to in the main text and presented in a logical sequence.

Authors must ensure that all tables and figures are original or that appropriate permission and attribution have been obtained for third-party material where required.

7. References and Citation Style

The Journal of Cost Management requires authors to use the MLA citation and referencing style consistently throughout the manuscript.

Authors should ensure that:

  • All sources cited in the text appear in the reference list.
  • All references listed are cited in the manuscript.
  • Bibliographic information is accurate and complete.
  • DOI information is provided where available.
  • Direct links to original sources should be included where appropriate.
  • References are checked carefully before submission.

Authors are responsible for verifying the accuracy of all DOI numbers and direct links.

8. Ethical Approval

Where applicable, manuscripts involving human participants, confidential data, or other ethically regulated research must include appropriate information regarding ethical approval and informed consent.

Authors should provide supporting ethical approval documentation when requested by the Editorial Office.

9. Conflict of Interest

All authors must disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflict of interest that could influence the research or its publication.

Where no conflict exists, authors should provide a clear statement confirming that there is no conflict of interest.

10. Plagiarism and Originality

All submitted manuscripts may be screened for plagiarism and inappropriate textual similarity using Turnitin or equivalent similarity-detection software.

Authors are expected to ensure that their work is original and that all sources, quotations, ideas, and previously published material are appropriately acknowledged. Submission of a similarity report does not prevent the journal from conducting its own plagiarism screening.

Manuscripts found to involve plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, or other forms of research or publication misconduct may be rejected or subjected to appropriate editorial action.

11. Cover Letter

A cover letter should accompany each manuscript submission. It should briefly introduce the manuscript and confirm that:

  • The manuscript is original.
  • The manuscript has not been published previously.
  • The manuscript is not under consideration by another journal.
  • All authors have approved the submission.
  • Any conflicts of interest have been disclosed.
  • The manuscript complies with the journal's publication ethics requirements.

12. Peer Review

Manuscripts that meet the journal's initial editorial requirements are submitted for single-blind peer review. Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on originality, academic significance, methodological quality, clarity, relevance, and contribution to the field.

The identity of reviewers is kept confidential from authors throughout the review process.

13. Revisions

Authors may be requested to revise their manuscripts in response to editorial or reviewer comments. Revised manuscripts should address the comments carefully and clearly indicate the changes made.

Authors may be asked to provide a response to reviewers explaining how each substantive comment has been addressed.

14. Publication Ethics

Authors are expected to comply with recognized principles of research and publication ethics, including relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors are responsible for maintaining research integrity, appropriate authorship, accurate reporting, proper citation, disclosure of conflicts of interest, and responsible handling of research data.

15. Final Submission and Publication

Before publication, accepted manuscripts may undergo copyediting, proofreading, formatting, and production. Authors may be contacted during this stage to confirm corrections or provide additional information.

Authors are responsible for carefully reviewing the final proofs and reporting any necessary corrections within the timeframe specified by the Editorial Office.
