Abstract

A book called Supply Chain Development for the Lean Enterprise, written by Robin Cooper and Regine Slagmulder, is reviewed. The book provides guidelines for applying Japanese lean manufacturing techniques to the Western world. The authors have presented valuable information to achieve effective interorganizational cost management for lean enterprises. One of the main topic in the book deals with the survival triplet. The survival triplet is composed of three product-related characteristics such as cost, quality and functionality on the internal dimensions, and parallels of prices, perceived quality and perceived functionality externally.
